Your First Women's Group Tour: What to Expect

Thinking about joining a group tour for the first time but not quite sure what to expect?

Maybe you've never travelled with a group before.

Maybe you've always travelled with family or friends and the idea of joining a women's group trip feels a little daunting.

Or perhaps you're excited about the idea but have approximately one million questions running through your head.

What if I don't know anyone?
Will I have any time to myself?
What if I don't get along with everyone?
What should I pack?
Will I have to do everything with the group?
And, perhaps the biggest question of all…

Will I actually enjoy travelling with people I've never met?

The answer?

We think you will.

Here's everything you need to know before joining your first group tour with Wander Beyond Co.

What is a group tour?

A group tour is a holiday where you travel alongside a small group of other people, with experiences, activities and much of the planning organised for you.

At Wander Beyond Co, our group trips are designed specifically for women who want to explore incredible destinations, experience new adventures and connect with other women along the way.

You don't have to organise a group of friends to come with you.

You don't have to plan every activity.

And you don't have to figure out all the logistics yourself.

You simply book your place and get ready for the adventure.

Do I need to know anyone before I go?

Absolutely not.

You can come on your own, not knowing a single person, and that's exactly how most women will join a Wander Beyond Co trip.

But you don't have to come alone either.

Bring your bestie!

Maybe you've always talked about taking an adventure together but never actually made it happen.

A Wander Beyond Co trip could be the perfect excuse to finally book that trip you've been talking about.

So come solo or come with your best friend.

Either way, you'll be joining a group of women who are there for the same reason — to travel, experience something new and have an incredible time.

And you might arrive not knowing anyone, but you won't stay that way for long.

What happens when I arrive?

We've designed our women's group trips so you don't have to worry about figuring everything out as soon as you arrive.

When you arrive at your destination, we'll arrange for you to be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel.

No trying to work out where you're going after a long flight.

No stressing about how to get to your accommodation.

Just arrive, meet your transfer and start settling into your adventure.

And then comes your first night and the welcome dinner.

It's the perfect way to begin the trip. You'll meet the other women, sit down together, enjoy some food and start getting to know one another.

There might be a few nervous laughs at first and that's completely normal. But by the end of the evening, you'll be feeling much more comfortable about the adventure ahead.

Will I have to spend every minute with the group?

Definitely not.

Our group trips include a balance of pre-organised activities and free time.

We want you to experience the best of the destination together, but we also understand that sometimes you want to slow down, explore independently or simply relax.

That's why our itineraries aren't packed from morning until night.

You'll have planned experiences to look forward to, along with time to enjoy the destination at your own pace.

Want to explore?

Go for it.

Want to sit by the pool with a book?

Absolutely.

Want to grab a coffee, wander around or simply have some quiet time?

That's okay too.

Group travel doesn't mean you have to be together every second.

It's about having the best of both worlds, shared experiences and the freedom to enjoy some time for yourself.

What should I pack for my first group tour?

For every Wander Beyond Co trip, we'll provide a specific packing list for that individual destination.

Because what you need for a tropical island adventure is going to be very different from what you'll need for an adventure in New Zealand!

Your packing information will include specific advice for the destination, activities and experiences included in your trip.

So instead of staring at an empty suitcase wondering what on earth you're supposed to take, you'll have a clear guide to work from.

Pack what you need. Leave the unnecessary stuff at home.

Will I make friends on a group tour?

YES!

You'll share meals.

You'll explore together.

You'll laugh together.

You'll experience new things together.

You'll have those little moments that only make sense to the people who were actually there.

And that's where the friendships happen.

Maybe you'll find someone you instantly click with.

Maybe you'll discover you have more in common with someone than you expected.

Maybe you'll leave with a new friend who lives on the other side of the country.

Or maybe you'll go home and already be planning your next adventure together.

That's the magic of women's group travel.

You arrive as strangers.

You share an experience.

And somewhere along the way, you become friends.

What if I'm shy or introverted?

You don't have to be the loudest person in the room.

You don't have to be naturally outgoing.

And you certainly don't need to spend the entire trip talking.

Some people make friends instantly.

Others take a little longer to warm up.

Both are completely fine.

The great thing about a Wander Beyond Co trip is that you'll have plenty of opportunities to get to know everyone naturally.

Your first night is a welcome dinner.

Then you'll share activities, meals, adventures and downtime throughout the trip.

You don't have to force friendships.

Just be yourself and let them happen.

Do I need to be adventurous to join a group tour?

Absolutely not.

You don't need to be an adrenaline junkie.

You don't need to have travelled to dozens of countries.

And you don't need to be the person who says yes to absolutely everything.

Our women's group trips are about experiencing somewhere new, trying new things and enjoying the destination.

Some activities might push you outside your comfort zone and that's often where some of the best memories happen.

But you should never feel pressured to do something you're genuinely uncomfortable with.

Adventure looks different for everyone.

For one woman, it might be jumping into an exciting new activity.

For another, it might simply be getting on a plane and travelling somewhere she's never been before.

Both count.

What about travel insurance?

Travel insurance is an important part of preparing for any international trip.

For Wander Beyond Co trips, travel insurance is mandatory.

You'll need to arrange appropriate cover for your trip and provide your travel insurance details as required before travelling.

Make sure you read your policy carefully and check that it covers your destination and any activities included in your itinerary.

It might not be the most exciting part of planning your holiday, but it's one of the most important.

What about accommodation and room sharing?

Accommodation options vary depending on the individual Wander Beyond Co trip.

Some trips may offer solo accommodation, while others may include twin-share or other room options.

Your accommodation and sleeping arrangements will always be clearly explained before you book.

If you're travelling with your best friend, you may also have the option to share.

If you're travelling solo, you can simply choose the accommodation option that suits you and your trip.

The important thing is knowing exactly what you're booking before you go.

What if I need help while I'm away?

Another benefit of joining an organised women's group tour is knowing that you aren't completely on your own.

Your trip is planned in advance, with organised activities, accommodation and transfers arranged as part of the experience.

We'll also be there to help coordinate the trip and make sure you know what's happening along the way.

You still have independence and free time, but you also have the reassurance of being part of a group.

Sometimes, having that little bit of support is exactly what makes trying something new feel possible.

What makes a women's group trip different?

Travelling with women you don't already know can offer something completely different from travelling with your usual friends or family.

You arrive without a history.

You aren't locked into your usual role within a friendship group.

You get to meet people as the person you are right now.

And sometimes, that's incredibly refreshing.

You might discover new things about yourself simply because you're experiencing life outside your normal routine.

You may come home with photographs and memories from an incredible destination.

But you might also come home with something unexpected: new confidence, new friendships and a new sense of what's possible.

Your first group tour might feel scary — and that's okay.

You don't have to pretend you're not nervous.

Being nervous simply means you're doing something unfamiliar.

The important thing is not to let the nerves make the decision for you.

Because once you arrive, you'll probably discover something:

Everyone else is there because they wanted to experience something too.

You're not the only one who felt nervous before booking.

You're not the only one who wondered whether you'd fit in.

And you're definitely not the only one who stood there on day one wondering what you'd gotten yourself into!

Give it a little time.

Say hello.

Be open.

Try something new.

And let the trip unfold.

Is a group tour right for you?

If you've been thinking about joining a group tour for women but haven't quite taken the leap, ask yourself:

Do I want to see somewhere new?

Do I want to meet new people?

Do I want someone else to take care of much of the planning?

Do I want to try experiences I might not organise for myself?

Do I want a balance of organised activities and free time?

Am I willing to step slightly outside my comfort zone?

If you've answered yes to even a few of those questions, a women's group trip might be exactly what you've been looking for.
